Biography | Heba Handoussa is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology at the faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the German University in Cairo. She earned her PhD from German University in Cairo (GUC), Egypt. She has a considerable experience in undergraduate teaching where she functions as a lecturer of Pharmaceutical Biology since 2013. Main author of several published articles in reputable scientific journals in field of Pharmacy and Reviewer in number of of Scopus and Medline indexed international peer reviewed journals related to the fields of Pharmaceutical Biology and Food Science. In addition to, supervision over 20 Masters and PhD theses. Her research group includes activities related to the applications and bioactivities of the natural products ( medicinal plants, marine yields). Noteworthy, the implementation of new trends of food science, technology and food safety as a foremost interest within the research activities. | Research Interests | Her research focus areas are; plant secondary metabolism analysis and familiarity with multiple mass spectrometers and techniques (i.e. GC/MS, LC/MSn), besides awareness of several spectroscopic techniques to identify, isolate and purify the bioactive phytochemical compounds, having responsibilities in postgraduates studies’ supervision; Bachelor, Masters and PhD theses in the same field, In addition to the main concern which is exploring the different Pharmacological activities behind the isolated phytomedicinals. She has been probing novel bioactive molecules with possible antinflammatory, molecular targeted HCC therapy, anticancer, neuroprotective, antidiabetic and other Pharmacological activities. Besides, the bioactivity of the nutraceuticals and special insights on Integrated Food Science. |
