Undergraduate Programs

Study programs at the GUC are designed in alignment with the German Higher Education system. This facilitates exchange of students and recognition of learning with partner universities, and ensures an education of highest international level. Study programs are designed in cooperation with partner German Universities and program organization includes modular components and the European Credit Transfer & Accumulation System (ECTS) with average 30 credit points corresponding to one semester. Design of study programs follows the German Qualification Framework where both Pharmacy and Biotechnology Programs are accredited by ACQUIN.


The Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the GUC offers three undergraduate programs:

1.PharmD

The PharmD Program at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology, The German University in Cairo, GUC, is meticulously designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required for a wide range of pharmacy-related careers. The program encompasses five years of study and one excellence year in top-tier pharmaceutical sectors and hospitals. As a leading institution in both teaching and research, the faculty prides itself on a well-designed curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring students are thoroughly prepared for the demands of the profession.

Our state-of-the-art laboratories and team of distinguished professors provide a top-tier education, fostering an environment where students can excel. The program prepares students for diverse career paths in the medical field, including roles in hospital and community pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry, clinical research, pharmaceutical sales and marketing, pharmacoeconomics, as well as academia. Additionally, students receive specialized training for careers in food and drug analysis, drug dispensing, inspection agencies, drug safety, and regulatory affairs. By blending cutting-edge research with comprehensive, practical training, our program ensures that graduates are well-prepared to succeed in various professional environments within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

 

2.PharmD-Clinical Pharmacy

The PharmD Clinical Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology stands out as a premier choice for students aspiring to excel in the dynamic field of healthcare. The program includes five years of study followed by an excellence year in top-tier hospitals and clinical settings. Designed with a cutting-edge curriculum, this program equips students with the knowledge and skills required to become proficient clinical pharmacists. In the healthcare settings, clinical pharmacists play a crucial role in patient care, working alongside physicians to optimize medication therapy, ensure the safety and efficacy of drug treatments, and contribute to the overall healthcare management team.

In addition to preparing students for careers in hospital and community pharmacy, the PharmD Clinical Pharmacy program also opens doors to roles in academia and pharmaceutical industry, clinical research, pharmacovigilance, pharmacoeconomics, regulatory affairs, market access, health insurance, and healthcare management. With a focus on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, our program ensures that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the ever-evolving healthcare landscape.

3.Biotechnology

The Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the German University in Cairo (GUC) is a dynamic and research-focused program designed to prepare students for a broad range of career opportunities in the rapidly evolving field of biotechnology. The Biotechnology program spans four years, concentrating on cutting-edge research in pharmaceutical and medical biotechnology.

Students will gain expertise in areas such as genetic engineering, gene therapy, and stem cell technology, equipping them with the skills needed to excel in these innovative fields. The program's well-structured curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking and hands-on experience, ensuring that graduates are ready to contribute to advancements in biotechnology.
